Lafayette Industries Acquires Jefferson Subcontracting Inc.

Lafayette Industries, a leader in providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, is expanding its footprint through the acquisition of Jefferson Subcontracting, Inc (JSI), a nonprofit organization serving Jefferson County.

This strategic acquisition underscores Lafayette’s commitment to growing its mission and creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. “This partnership is about more than growth—it’s about preserving JSI’s legacy while equipping it with the resources and stability needed to thrive long into the future,” said Rob Libera, CEO and Executive Director at Lafayette Industries.

The acquisition brings together two organizations with a shared vision for empowering individuals with disabilities. Lafayette plans to integrate its successful operational strategies into JSI, to be renamed Lafayette JeffCo, while maintaining current staff roles and services.  Lafayette JeffCo will have a new site director, Scott Shelton, who will oversee the transition. Scott is a community driven Jefferson County resident and has 30 years of expertise in resolving complex issues and improving operational efficiency.

Lafayette is also leveraging its relationships with key funders, including Developmental Disability Advocates, to ensure fiscal stability and a seamless transition. “This is a rare opportunity to strengthen our impact and expand our reach,” Rob Libera added.

Founded in 1976, Lafayette Industries has grown from a small organization to a multi-dimensional nonprofit recognized for its quality, efficiency, and dedication to those it serves. By incorporating JSI into its operations, Lafayette positions itself as a leading partner for businesses and individuals alike, creating new opportunities and enriching communities across the region.
