A-Team Missouri Plans 2025 Events
Two major events to kick off the new year are being planned for workshop employees, staff and other supporters. The 2025 Day of Choice is now scheduled for March 5 (previously March 11), starting at 10 a.m. The time change is to give participants more time to drive to Jefferson City that morning. The annual event brings hundreds of workshop employees to visit the Missouri Capitol wearing green “choice” T-shirts.
A-Team Missouri organizes the event and hopes increase participation. “We had 250 last year and hope to double that,” Chair Heather Pugh said. The tentative agenda calls for a rally in the building’s first floor rotunda and an introduction to the legislative session. More information will be shared when available.
Another event will occur even sooner: the Workshop Products and Services Day held at the Capitol Jan. 29. This is a chance for shops to present information to state legislators regarding what workshops do and generally involves only one to four representatives from each workshop because of space limitations. Setup begins at 8:30 a.m. and shops are asked to register at this link to ensure enough tables and other logistics.
Other Plans for 2025
A major priority for A-Team Missouri going forward includes continuing to grow the number of workshops with chapters and parent/guardian involvement. Pugh acknowledged that finding time for this is difficult but important.
“A-Team Missouri is a way that we can work together and make a difference in seeing that employment choice continues,” Pugh said. “In 2025 we’re going to continue to spread the word – get those green shirts and boots on the ground.” She said the short monthly Zoom meetings are specifically designed to “…bring everyone together and make sure we’re on the same page,” and “help every shop get started with their own A-Team.”
