Disability Employment Observance Draws State Rep to Rockport

In observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Northwest Missouri Industries in Rockport hosted a coffee with Missouri State Representative Allen Andrews of District 1.

Workshop General Manager Glennette Christian noted that Rep. Andrews has been a big supporter of workshops. His visit lasted over two hours, during which time he discussed issues such as retaining Section 14C, not raising the minimum wage to $14 an hour and the needs of smaller workshops in order to remain open and serve people with disabilities.

Rep. Andrews talked with staff members and workers with disabilities and enjoyed the coffee and donuts!

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. The theme for 2019 is "The Right Talent, Right Now."
