Kansas City Regional Foundations Donate $210,000 to Job One
More than 300 Adults with Developmental Disabilities to Benefit

Established in 1967, Job One is the largest and one of the oldest providers of employment, vocational and career development for people with intellectual disabilities in Jackson County, Missouri.

At sites in Grandview, Independence, and throughout the Kansas City area, more than 300 people with a wide range of disabilities are working in environments that are safe and appropriate for their individual abilities. During 2018, Job One conducted a Capacity-Building Fundraising Campaign to upgrade and add operational equipment and supplies to make workplaces even more safe, efficient and productive. The response from Kansas City’s charitable community has been historic for Job One.

In early 2018, funding priorities were identified and $198,000 was set as a goal for funds needed for updated, safer adaptive equipment. Thus far, the campaign has raised $210,000. These funds will enable Job One to develop more viable employment options that will empower each person served to reach their individual potential. The importance of Job One –and this funding–to the more than 300 people with disabilities served who wish to be employed cannot be over-stated.
