Day for Choice Set for April 16 in Jeff City…and Nationwide!

Workshop employees and those who advocate for their right to choice wll be traveling to Jefferson City April 16.
The second annual National Day for Choice will be Tuesday, April 16 with a daylong visit to the Missouri State Capitol to talk with legislators about the importance of employment choice for people with disabilities.

The MASWM-MESA A Team started this effort last year and now other states have joined, making it an important, national event.

This year, there will also be representation in Washington, D.C., through ACCSES and the Porter Group, as well as A Team Members from other states. The idea is for each state to bring as many people as possible to their own state capital to spread awareness and gain attention to the important work of A Teams nationwide.

Thanks to Tracy Gritsenko, here are the details for Missouri’s Day for Choice:

A Team National Day for Choice
My Job – My Choice

Wear your A Team Missouri shirts or wear GREEN.  If you or family members do not have A Team shirts, just wear green!

Come to the capitol anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., April 16. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Bring a lunch or lunch in the cafeteria.

We have reserved the third floor rotunda as we did last year. We will be in this area most of the day as a group, but we encourage everyone to make appointments with your Senator and Representative. Someone will always be in the Rotunda at our A Team Tables. You can’t miss us – look for the green and all of our banners.

The third floor is a perfect spot to gather. Both Senators and Representatives come in and out of session in this area, so it is easy to greet them.

We will have A Team business cards on hand, brochures and A Team Missouri bracelets to give out to our legislators.

We had a GREAT crowd last year and this year we hope to double in size. Let’s flood the halls of the capitol again this year and spread awareness!!
